Recycled Vertical Garden

The Mexicans are a resourceful nation, here is another great example. This vertical garden not only made a great fence, but the plastic bottle containers filled with soil stack perfectly and the gaps allow small plants and mosses to grow. Ingenious.

Tree in a bench

This tree provided shade and greenery to an otherwise basic concrete bench. The street had these lining either pavement on a 100m stretch. Street Smart.

Outdoor Garden Innovation

We bumped into this urban garden in old Mexico City.

They had turned a paved area into a oasis of green by filling shallow pots with grass for seating, water and pond life. Everyone, young and old was enjoying the experience.

Most interesting of all was the recycling of oil drums into homes for giant bamboo.

Mexico: the wooden balcony and garage

Modern Mexican designers love using grilles, wooden slats and straight lines to give their homes a fresh clean feel.

I really like this example near Chapultepec Park in central Mexico City, the wood adds a softness to the concrete.
